Christian Goeschel

I teach Modern European History at the University of Manchester, having previously taught at Birkbeck, University of London, and the Australian National University. I have published extensively on the history of Nazi Germany, including Suicide in Nazi Germany (Oxford University Press 2009, German translation Selbstmord im Dritten Reich, Suhrkamp Verlag, 2011) and, with Nikolaus Wachsmann, The Nazi Concentration Camps, 1933-1939: A Documentary History (Nebraska University Press, 2012). More recently, my research interest has shifted to the comparative and transnational history of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. On this, I have published ŒIntroduzione' to the new edition of Renzo De Felice, Mussolini e Hitler. I rapporti segreti, 1922-1933, con documenti inediti (Bari/Roma: Laterza, 2013), v-xxiii and ŒItalia docet? The Relationship between Italian Fascism and Nazism Revisited¹, European History Quarterly, 42
(2012), 480-92.
